This month is all about the green!

From October to March I usually despair when I look around my soggy, wind battered garden. Autumn is a very fleeting season in the Hebrides and more often than not it bypasses us altogether as we are plunged into the depths of bitingly cold winter winds which tear through any remaining vegetation. Living here really makes you appreciate the warmer months more than most!
As I am writing this a news notification just popped up on my phone with the headline ‘why is it suddenly cold in the UK and when will the weather get warmer?’ This baffles me slightly as I don’t think we should expect warm weather this early in the year. Personally I am still up for welly socks and bobble hats as long as they are accompanied by a little blue sky and the return of green to my garden.
As you know, I am working on a collection of patterns at the moment which takes inspiration from the word ‘verdure’ - the fresh green colour of lush vegetation. Isn’t that a super word!
With this is mind, I have made you a free April colour palette of fresh greens to use in your own creative projects. Let me know what you make!
I’ll be back in your inbox next Sunday with the first blog post for May. In the meantime, I hope you get lots of free time to doodle, paint and play and soak up the last of April’s verdure.
Until next week,
Alice
